People come in under "motor oil" for two different things, and it is worth being clear about which one you need. One is the oil itself: what weight, conventional or synthetic, and whether your engine calls for something specific. The other is the blower motor, the fan that pushes air through your heater and AC vents. Different systems entirely. If your dash fan quit working, that is not an oil problem, so ask for that below.
Engine oil
Most gas engines on the road around Graham take a 5W20 or similar light-weight oil. Check your owner's manual or the cap under the hood if you are not sure, because using the wrong weight is a real thing that can affect how the engine protects itself, especially in cold starts. If your car has more than 100,000 miles on it, high mileage oil is worth considering. It runs a bit thicker and has additives meant to help old seals hold on to oil rather than let it seep past them. It is not a fix for a real oil leak, just a way to slow one down. Diesel trucks need a heavier oil, usually 5W-40, and diesel-rated oil handles the soot and heat differently than gas engine oil does.
Signs you are due: oil looking dark and gritty on the dipstick, the level low, or the oil light on. Interval depends on the car and how you drive it. A truck towing every week needs oil changed more often than a commuter car.
Blower motor problems
If the fan for your heat or AC only works on one speed, or not at all, the first suspect is usually the blower motor resistor or control module, not the motor itself. That part is cheaper to replace and often fixes it. If the resistor is fine and the fan still does not spin, or spins with a grinding noise, the blower motor assembly itself has likely failed and needs to come out. Replacing it does not include recovering or recharging the AC refrigerant. That is a separate job, priced separately, and only needed if the AC side of things is also giving you trouble.
