What we collect, why, and what we do with it.
Last updated 1 August 2026. This explains what we collect and why. If anything here is unclear, call us on (253) 375-7057 and ask.
The short version
We collect what we need to fix your car and to run the shop. We do not sell your information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use tracking cookies. If you want us to delete what we hold, ask and we will.
What we collect when you use this website
Every visit records a small amount of information on our own server. This is not Google Analytics or any other outside service, and nothing is shared with anyone:
- The page you looked at, and roughly when
- Whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer
- The site you arrived from, if any — for example a Google search or our Google listing
- Which buttons you tapped: the phone number, directions, and the steps of the booking form
None of this identifies you. There is no tracking cookie, no advertising pixel, and no profile built across visits. We use a temporary session identifier so that if you start booking an appointment and finish it, we can count that as one person rather than two — it lasts as long as your visit and cannot be linked to you afterwards.
Detailed records are deleted after 90 days. We keep daily totals, which contain no individual visits.
What we collect when you contact or book
When you fill in a form, book an appointment, or bring a vehicle in, we hold your name, phone number, email address if you give one, vehicle details, and a record of the work discussed or carried out. We need this to do the job and to keep proper records.
Our shop management system is Tekmetric, which stores repair orders, invoices and vehicle history on our behalf. Website enquiries and booking requests are stored on our own server.
Text messages
If you give us your mobile number and agree to it, we may text you about your vehicle. You can agree by ticking the box on our booking or contact form, by signing a repair order, or by telling us over the phone. Agreeing is never a condition of any repair or purchase — say no and we will call you instead.
What we text you about:
- Appointment reminders
- Updates on the progress of a repair
- Estimate and inspection approval requests
- Letting you know your vehicle is ready
- Invoices and payment reminders
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out and we will not text you again. Reply HELP for help, or call us on (253) 375-7057.
We do not sell, rent or share your mobile number or your consent and opt-in records with anyone else, and never with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing.
The only parties that handle your number are the messaging provider that delivers the texts and our shop management system, and each handles it only to provide that service.
Your account and rewards
If you sign in to the customer area, we hold a record of your visits and any reward points. Signing in sends a short code to your phone or email rather than using a password. We store a session token in your browser so you do not have to sign in on every visit; it is necessary for the account to work and is not used for tracking.
Photographs
We sometimes photograph vehicles as part of a repair, for our own records and to show you what we found. We only publish a photograph on this website or on social media if the customer has told us we may.
Who else sees your information
Only the people and services we need to run the shop: our shop management system, our payment processor, our web host, and the service that sends our text messages. Each of them handles your information only to provide that service. We do not sell customer information to anyone, for any purpose.
We will share information if the law requires it — for example a valid court order or a safety recall notice from a manufacturer.
Health information
We are an auto repair shop and we do not ask for or want health information. If you tell us something about a medical condition — for instance when arranging a hand control or explaining why you need the car back by a certain time — we use it only to help with that request and do not keep a record of it. Washington's My Health My Data Act gives you rights over health information; ours is simply not to collect it.
Children
This website is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
How long we keep things
- Website visit records: 90 days in detail, then daily totals only
- Booking requests and enquiries: two years
- Repair orders and invoices: as long as tax and warranty rules require, normally seven years
- Text message opt-outs: kept indefinitely, because forgetting one would mean texting someone who asked us not to
Asking us to delete your information
Call (253) 375-7057 or email support@autostargarage.com and tell us what you would like removed. We will do it, other than records we are legally required to keep, such as invoices. We will tell you if anything falls into that category.
You can also ask us for a copy of what we hold about you.
Security
This site runs over an encrypted connection. Passwords and sign-in codes are stored hashed, never in readable form. We do not store card numbers — payments are handled by our payment processor and we never see the full number.
No system is perfect. If something did go wrong and your information were exposed, we would tell you.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
