Why Is My Car Shaking?
A shake or vibration can come from the engine, the tires and wheels, the brakes, the suspension, the steering or the drivetrain. When it happens is the single most useful clue, so start there.
This is general guidance, not a diagnosis. It is based on what you can see, hear, smell or read — not a physical inspection of your vehicle. A symptom or a trouble code narrows things down; it does not name the failed part, and the same one can mean different things on different cars. Confirming the actual cause takes the car in front of someone. When in doubt, treat it as more serious, not less.

What can cause this?
A vibration is your car telling you something is out of balance, worn, or misfiring. A shake that comes only at a certain speed usually points at tires and wheels; only under braking points at the brakes; at idle points at the engine. That is why when it happens matters more than how it feels.
When should I stop driving?
A flashing check-engine light with heavy shaking means an active misfire — stop driving and get it looked at, because it can quickly wreck the catalytic converter. A sudden violent shake, or shaking with poor control, is also a stop-and-check situation.
