Flashing vs steady
A brief flash means electronic stability control is doing its job in a slippery moment — that is normal. A light that stays on steady means the system has faulted and is likely disabled.
Can I drive?
The car drives normally, but without stability control you have less of a safety margin in rain, snow or hard maneuvers — and around here that matters. Get it checked soon, and drive gently in the meantime.
Common causes
Often shared with ABS — a wheel speed sensor, the steering angle sensor, or low voltage. It frequently appears alongside the ABS light.
