2001 Chevrolet S10 Pickup

2001 Chevrolet S10 Rear Brake and Caliper Replacement

This Chevrolet S10 pickup came in with a squealing noise from the brakes.

What we found

The rear brakes were worn, and a rear caliper had seized — which was dragging on the rotor and causing the squeal. Worn pads and a stuck caliper often travel together.

What we did

Nick replaced the rear brake pads and rotors and the seized rear caliper, then bled the system, and did an oil and filter service while the truck was in.

How it turned out

Quiet, even braking restored.
A brake squeal is the early warning; leave it and it turns into a grind and, as here, a seized caliper. Catching it at the squeal stage is almost always the cheaper repair.
