EV charging warning

A plug or charging symbol with a fault indication.

GENERALLY OK TO PROCEED WITH CAUTION

Book it in when you can · Amber means get it checked

What it means

This flags a problem with charging — the onboard charger, the charge port, or the handshake with a charger. It does not necessarily affect driving on the charge you already have.

Can I drive?

Usually yes, on remaining range, but you may not be able to recharge normally, so address it before you are low. Try a different charger to rule out the station.

Common causes

A charge-port or cable fault, a faulty charging station, an onboard-charger issue, or a software glitch that a restart sometimes clears.

Warning-light symbols and meanings vary by vehicle — always check your owner’s manual. This is general guidance based on what the light indicates, not a physical inspection, and a light on its own never names a failed part.
