AWD system warning

AWD or a drivetrain symbol lit on the dash.

GET CHECKED SOON

Get it looked at soon · Amber means get it checked

What it means

The AWD system has detected a problem and may drop to two-wheel drive to protect itself. You may notice it most in rain or snow, or feel nothing at all day to day.

Can I drive?

Usually yes for normal driving, but do not rely on full AWD grip until it is checked — and avoid mismatched or badly worn tires, which can themselves upset an AWD system.

Common causes

A sensor or module fault, a clutch or coupling issue, low fluid, or unevenly worn tires. It needs scanning to confirm.

Warning-light symbols and meanings vary by vehicle — always check your owner’s manual. This is general guidance based on what the light indicates, not a physical inspection, and a light on its own never names a failed part.
