Automatic emergency braking warning

A car with a brake or exclamation symbol and radiating lines.

GET CHECKED SOON

Get it looked at soon · Amber means get it checked

What it means

Automatic emergency braking can apply the brakes if it senses an imminent collision and you have not reacted. A warning means the system is unavailable or faulted.

Can I drive?

Yes, but do not count on the car to brake for you — leave extra following distance and get it looked at soon.

Common causes

A blocked or misaligned radar/camera, weather, or a fault. Shares hardware with forward collision warning, so the two often appear together.

Warning-light symbols and meanings vary by vehicle — always check your owner’s manual. This is general guidance based on what the light indicates, not a physical inspection, and a light on its own never names a failed part.
