Parking sensor warning

A car with sensor waves, or a Park Assist Unavailable message.

GENERALLY OK TO PROCEED WITH CAUTION

Book it in when you can · Amber means get it checked

What it means

Parking sensors beep as you approach an obstacle. A warning means one or more sensors are unavailable — very often just dirt, snow or ice over a bumper sensor.

Can I drive?

Yes. Park using your mirrors, the backup camera, and a look around, as you would without sensors, until it clears.

Common causes

A dirty or covered bumper sensor, a knock that misaligned one, or a wiring fault. Cleaning the bumper often fixes it.

Warning-light symbols and meanings vary by vehicle — always check your owner’s manual. This is general guidance based on what the light indicates, not a physical inspection, and a light on its own never names a failed part.
