Key not detected warning
A message reading Key Not Detected, No Key, or a key symbol with a slash.
GENERALLY OK TO PROCEED WITH CAUTION
Book it in when you can · Amber means get it checked
What it means
Keyless-start cars look for the fob before they will start. This message means it cannot find it — most often because the fob battery is weak.
What to try
Make sure the fob is in the car. Then hold it directly against the start button (or the marked spot) and press to start — most cars have this backup for a dead fob battery, described in the owner’s manual. Replacing the coin-cell battery in the fob usually fixes it for good.

Warning-light symbols and meanings vary by vehicle — always check your owner’s manual. This is general guidance based on what the light indicates, not a physical inspection, and a light on its own never names a failed part.
