Blind spot monitoring light

A car with waves or a fault message for the blind spot system.

GENERALLY OK TO PROCEED WITH CAUTION

Book it in when you can · Amber means get it checked

What it means

Blind spot monitors use rear-corner sensors to warn of a vehicle beside you. A warning light means the feature is off or faulted — often a dirty or blocked rear bumper sensor.

Can I drive?

Yes. Rely on your mirrors and a shoulder-check, as you would in any car without the feature, until it clears.

Common causes

A dirty or ice-covered rear bumper (where the sensors live), a trailer or bike rack blocking them, or a sensor fault.

Warning-light symbols and meanings vary by vehicle — always check your owner’s manual. This is general guidance based on what the light indicates, not a physical inspection, and a light on its own never names a failed part.
